RDP is one of Microsoft's largest and most intimidating protocols, and IronRDP implements it from scratch in pure Rust. In this lightning demo, I'll show the same Rust protocol core driving wildly different targets: a client running entirely in the browser through WebAssembly, a native desktop client, and C# applications via FFI bindings. I'll connect to the same RDP session live: once from a browser tab (in Devolutions Server) and once from a native app (in Remote Desktop Manager), demonstrating the portability is something you can see rather than take on faith. One design decision makes this possible: keeping the protocol logic fully decoupled from I/O, so the same code runs under a blocking loop, an async runtime, or no runtime at all. IronRDP is open source and powers RDP connectivity across Devolutions' products today. If you care about WebAssembly, FFI, or building portable protocol libraries in Rust, there should be something here worth stealing.
