About me
Alyssa Evans is a Staff Engineer specializing in production Rust FFI across Swift, Android/Java, and other target platforms. Less than two years after first writing Rust, she was hired for her FFI expertise at Ditto, a company with 5+ years of production Rust SDK experience. Her work spans the full stack of cross-language challenges: string encoding across UTF-8/UTF-16/modified UTF-8, async model mismatches, and cross-platform memory management — including the C interface layer that makes any of it work reliably across target runtimes. Beyond shipping code, she has mentored 10+ engineers through Rust adoption, founded and led a community of practice while still learning herself, and delivered 71–85% performance improvements on embedded Linux systems. Her workshop methodology — using Advent of Code as an FFI playground — is the same approach she applied professionally, and the same skills that got her hired.
